Attorney Philip L. Ellison’s story is one of a Michigan native who has woven his deep-rooted connection to his community into a remarkable legal career. Based in Hemlock, where he was born and raised, Philip has become a formidable advocate for those entangled in complex legal battles. His practice focuses on property and water rights, civil liberties, public transparency, and government accountability. Before becoming an attorney, Philip thrived in the world of technology and communication. Philip’s academic path started at Lake Superior State University, he earned degrees in Business Administration and Public Relations, graduating as a Senator Philip A. Hart Scholar with a slew of honors. A full scholarship to Central Michigan University followed, where he secured a Master of Business Administration (MBA). His legal education at Michigan State University College of Law focused on navigating complex legal challenges and federal court systems. There, he served as Co-Editor in Chief of the Journal of Business & Securities Law and gained hands-on experience as an extern for the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Michigan.

Beyond his legal practice, Philip has embraced the role of educator, teaching as an adjunct professor of law at Saginaw Valley State University and business management at a Mid-Michigan community college.
